John Vincent Dies in Des Moines From Bad Liquor
John Vincent, 39 years of age, died at the Broadlawns general hospital in Des Moines Wednesday from the effects of “bad liquor.” Before he died he said that he was born in Lacona and that he had a sister living in Indianola. The Polk County coroner attempted to locate relatives in Indianola, but could find no one who was a kin of the dead man. Mr. Vincent was one of the 14 men who were given their freedom December 24 by Judge T. L. Sellers after they had promised to refrain from drinking. Sherman Dougherty of the same group died Christmas day from bad liquor. Honorable discharge papers from the United States Army were found in Vincent’s pocket.
