A Celebration of Life Service for Jessie Holt-Gebhart, 38, of Indianola, who passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in Des Moines will be held 7 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2020 at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola. Visitation will be held prior to services from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jessie was born on April 15, 1981 in Indianola, IA at her parent’s home. She was sassy from the beginning to her parents Gerald and Betty (Isabel) Holt. She joined her older brother Jake and was soon blessed with her younger siblings that she took care of like her own, Jonah, Jenessa and Jenna. She grew up to be stubborn and absolutely determined to do things her own way. She graduated from the Indianola Learning Center in 1999. She returned to college to further her education and graduated as a paralegal.
Her life was made complete by her 3 daughters Maddie May, Maccie Lauren Isabel and Mailey Jane Adel. The love she had for these three girls could not be expressed. Everything she did in her life was to better herself and make a life for them. On December 20, 2013, she married Bret Gebhart.
Jessie’s favorite things to do were crafts and photography and staying busy with her daughters and her animals. She may have seemed to have a hard exterior and she could put the fear of God in anyone, but if you handed her a sick animal, her heart would crumble and she would nurse that animal back to health. She did the same with the people she loved. Her love for the people around her could be felt. She was the person you called when you had a bad day. She would answer and you wouldn’t have to say a word. She would start to comfort your heart and wouldn’t hang up until you were done crying and felt better. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband Bret; three daughters Maddie, Maccie and Mailey; step-daughter, Makenzie (Gary) McBee and their children, Westen and Kooper; her parents, Gerald and Betty Holt; her brother, Jonah; her sisters, Jenessa and Jenna; nieces, Lilly, Isabel, Emma and Abigail; nephews, David and Daniel. She is also survived by her grandma Maxine Nall, mother-in-law, Linda Accola; father-in-law, Allen (Laura) Gebhart; sisters-in-law, Kristin (Chris) Howe and their children, Jake, Ben, Lathan, Lydia and Erica (Aaron) Lantz and their children, Jasper and Ean; grandparents–in-law, Leonard and Beverly Peek and a host of many aunts, uncles and cousins. She gained sisters later in life with Jessica (Pegram) Passick, Ashley Holt and Beth (Wilson) Coles. Her friends became her family as well and she will be dearly missed by everyone that met her.
She is preceded in death by her loving older brother, Jacob Holt; her maternal grandparents, Ray and Wilma Isabel, paternal grandfather David Holt, Uncle Bob, Uncle Bill and cousin Brett, Joshua and Ross.
In lieu of flowers, Jessie’s family requests memorials be made in her name to House of Mercy, Indianola or the family for her children.
