One of the sad funerals that has occurred for many years took place here last Friday. It was the funeral of the Rev. Brown of the United Brethren church. Mr. Brown was quite young just beginning in the ministry. Only a few years ago he came from the east and settled with his father’s family a few miles north of here. He was an exemplary young man and esteemed by all his acquaintances. He was very devout and the cause of his Master seemed to lie near his heart. But as the tender bud just opened to drink in the morning dews, is soon nipped by the untimely frost, so was the life of Mr. Brown. His life was just beginning to unfold to a life of usefulness, but he was overtaken by a fatal disease and in the dawning of life he fell. The event of his death was made still more sad from the fact that his wedding day was only a few days in the advance of the day of his death. The scene that took place when the aged parents and the intended young wife took the last farewell view was pitiable to behold.
