(March 18, 1800 – June 17, 1886)

Advocate Tribune, Indianola, IA, Thurs., June 24, 1886, p.6, col.2
DEATHS
HAWORTH – Hannah Haworth was born March 18, 1800, in the state of Ohio, Died June 17, 1886, on her farm near Ackworth.
She was married to Samuel Haworth in Ohio. Her maiden name was Hannah Haines. In an early day she moved to Illinois and lived there until 1846, when she removed to Iowa. Samuel Haworth, her husband, was a prominent citizen in the early history of the county, having been school commissioner and a member of the Board of Supervisors a number of years; he died in 1867. Hannah Haworth lived on the same farm for a little over forty years. The farm house in which she died was built on the site of the old log cabin which they first built in 1846.
Being so early a pioneer she had, of course, a very large circle of acquaintances, especially among the old settlers. Many of her immediate relatives and descendants have been well known citizens of this county. Among the survivors of the latter are Lydia H. Moorman, Jeremiah M. Haworth, John H. Haworth and George D. Haworth, her children, J. H. Henderson, Hannah Ford and Lou V. Proudfoot, grandchildren, all residing in this county, and A. M. Henderson, of Marengo, Mrs. R. A. Stanley, of Corning, and a number of other grandchildren in Kansas. She lived a consistent and highly respected member of the Society of Friends during her long life and was buried in the Friends’ Cemetery at Ackworth on the day following her death.
