Obituary
DIED – At his home near Sandyville, Warren County, Iowa, on the night of January 2nd, 1885, of lung disease, William Ballard.
William was born in Indiana on the 29th of Dec. 1853, and moved to Iowa in 1860 with his parents. His father died in 1862, leaving a wife and five children, one girl and four boys, the mother having died in 1865, leaving the children orphans. As William grew up to manhood, he was persuaded to go West for his health. While in the West he became strong again. After staying there for a time he came back to Warren County and was married to Mrs. Unis Sandy, with whom he lived not quite two years.
William was a good man, leaving no enemies behind. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Preston, Sunday the 4th. He leaves a wife, two step sons and three brothers to mourn his loss. We sympathize with the mourners and friends of this departed one.
