(September 3, 1855 – September 1, 1923)

Mrs. Mahala Jewett
Mahala Ann Roberts was the second daughter of Thomas and Sarah Roberts. He was born near Crawfordsville, Ind., September 3, 1855. The family removed to Guthrie County when she was about a year old and there made their home. In her young womanhood she spent some time in Simpson College. She was united in marriage to Albert Follett Jewett March 10, 1874. They resided throughout subsequent years near and in Indianola. They were the parents of twelve children, three of whom died in infancy. The other nine graduated from the Indianola High School. Two sons, George and Frank, died after reaching manhood. The husband and father passed away July 22, 1915. The children living are: Charles T., of Terre Haute, Ind.; Mary Moffett of Rolfe; Helen Whitlock of Miami, Fla.; Carrie Brinkman of Rolfe; Philip N. of Indianola; Halleck D., of Bowdoin, Mont.; and Edward T. of Indianola. There are eighteen grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters remain, W. G. Roberts of Panora; T. E. Roberts of Yale; J. H. Roberts of Onawa, Kans.; Mrs. Mary C. Campbell of Bellingham, Wash.
Mrs. Jewett died September 1, 1923. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, September 4, in the Methodist Church of Indianola, of which she became a member in 1871.
