Mrs. Alice (Butler) Miller
(May 15, 1867 – Aug 5, 1923)

Indianola, Iowa
The death of Mrs. Alice B. Miller, which occurred Sunday morning at 5:00 o’clock in Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines, came as a severe shock to her family and friends. Mrs. Miller’s condition has been serious for many months, but all still hoped that relief might be obtained and this good woman be spared for still further usefulness in her home as well as in business circles, but death, with his relentless grasp, laid hold of her and all that medical skill could accomplish would not release her, until she was called home, August 5. Mrs. Miller has been a most active woman in our city. For many years she and her late husband, M. F.[Merrick Frank] Miller, conducted a school of music. Mrs. Miller was gifted with a talent for music and her greatest delight seemed to be in both learning it and teaching it to others. For at least thirty-five years she has been organist in the First Presbyterian Church where her labors to created and uphold a high standard of excellence along this line, are greatly appreciated by the members of this church, by whom she will be sadly missed.
Her daughter, Mrs. Ray Lane of Dunlap and her son, Leo, of Chicago, have given her every care that loving hands could give, and they, with her aged mother, Mrs. O. K. Butler, are left to mourn their great loss. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock from the Presbyterian Church.
