Larry Cummings

Larry Cummings, 77, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 18, 2015. He was born in Carlisle and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1956 then attended Simpson College. He was a man of many talents including farmer, business owner, and builder. His last position was a foreman at Corell Contractors. Larry was a member of Local Union 234 and the Carlisle Christian Church. But most of all he was a good husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather as well as a good friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, golf, fishing and watching the Hawkeyes. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Marie Cummings and his sister Beverly Schrier and her husband Jack. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Reed) three sons Scott (Debbie), Jon (Theresa), Rob (Beth) and daughter Mary (Jamie) Robinson, 8 grandkids and 11 great grandkids.
Visitation will be held Tues July 21, 2015 from 6PM to 8PM at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle with the funeral services held on Wed., July 22, 2015 at 10 AM at the Carlisle Christian Church. Luncheon will be served before burial in Scotch Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Carlisle Christian Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
