(May 13, 1931 - June 20, 2016)

Peggy J. Bailey passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center. She is survived by her two sons, Paul, wife Lynn, grandchildren, Jon Bailey (wife Roxanna, daughter Kelsey) and Kara Williams (husband, Jon, their children, Luke, Alayna and Cade) and Brian, wife Carol, grandchildren, Aimee Kokesh (husband Richard and their daughters, Maggie and Sadie), Scott Bailey (wife Teresa and their children Marty, Megan, Emma and Anna). Peggy is also survived by one niece and two nephews in England, one niece in California and their families. Nieces and nephews also survive in Marshalltown, Iowa, Minnesota and Montana. Peggy was predeceased by her husband Chester Bailey, parents Charles and Florence Methven, England, sisters and brother-in-laws, Marjorie (Ron) Burley, and Audrey (Cyril) Byrne, all from England and all of her husband's brothers and sisters. Peggy was born in London, England in March 25, 1921. Peggy was enlisted in the English army during WWII when she met her American Army husband, Chester Bailey. After Chet was discharged and came back to the United States, Peggy followed him with their 9 month old son Paul to live at Scotch Ridge, north of Indianola on a farm where their second son was born 5 years later. After her husband's passing 6 years later, she relocated to Indianola, Iowa, where she continued to live all her life. She worked at Look Magazine in Des Moines, continuing there after it became CDS, where she worked in magazine fulfillment until her retirement. She enjoyed several hobbies during her lifetime, such as knitting, traveling, reading, playing cards and bingo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Indianola, Iowa, Red Hat Society, and the VFW Auxilliary. Visitation and funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow services. Memorials will go to First Baptist Church.
