Virginia Kay (Kohrs) Kuder
(October 10, 1937 - August 15, 2016)

Virginia Kay (Kohrs) Kuder passed away peacefully at home, age 78, on August 15th, 2016 after years of battling with the terrible disease cancer. Virginia, known by Aunt Gin or Ginny to family and friends, was born in Iowa on October 10th, 1937. Gin was part of one of the last classes that graduated from the New Virginia School prior to the school becoming Interstate 35 and kept close with a number of friends from her time in school. After graduating high school, she moved to Des Moines where she raised her daughter but eventually bought property at ‘the farm’ in New Virginia that had belonged to her parents and has resided at ‘the farm’ long since where many dear memories have been cherished by all of the Kohrs family. She retired and lived at home after a long career with Yellow Freight.
She is survived by her daughter Paula Redding of New Virginia, IA; grandchildren Casey Howe (Joshua) of New Virginia, IA, Josh Redding (Jennie) of Woodburn, IA, and Brandon Redding of Osceola, IA; and great-grandchildren Lily, Josey, Emma, Gavin, Bo, Rowdy, William, Dixie, Lexcy, and Brylee; brother Harold Kohrs (Alice) of Cabot, AR; and sister Dorothy Barnhart of Des Moines, IA; as well as numerous loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver John ‘OJ’ and Lillian ‘Mabel’ Kohrs of New Virginia, IA; brothers Herbert ‘Blackie’ Kohrs (Betty) of Des Moines, IA, Donald Kohrs (Gerry) of New Virginia, IA, Robert ‘Bob’ Kohrs (Judy) of New Virginia, IA; and great-grandson Gunnar Redding of Woodburn, IA. It is Virginia’s wishes to be cremated but a Celebration of Life memorial service was held at the New Virginia United Methodist Church on Saturday August 20th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will occur at the New Virginia Cemetery at a later point in time to be determined by the family.
