(October 12, 1942 - August 25, 2016)

Velva A. Edwards passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Carlisle Care Center. Graveside services for Velva will be at 11:00 am. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Carlisle City Cemetery. Velva was born on October 12, 1942 in Indianola, Iowa to Russell and Olive (Story) Sinclair.
Velva worked as a dietary cook at the Carlisle Care Center for 20 years before retirement. Velva loved to sit outside to watch the birds and squirrels. She loved her furbaby Jerry-Lee and loved to spend time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Velva enjoyed cheering on her grandkids at their athletic events.
Velva was preceded in death by her brother Russell Sinclair; sister, Jo Fridley; son, Mathew Edwards and granddaughter Devon Finley. Velva is survived by her son Walter Edwards of Urbandale; daughters, Norma Edwards of Carlisle and Peggy Edwards of Pleasant Hill; siblings, Howard Sinclair of Leon, Jake Sinclair, Coleen Dill of Missouri and Norma Edwards of Indianola; 7 grandchildren, Ryan(Stacey)Edwards, Nikki(Shawn)Stanger, Veronica(C.J.)Moellering, Jessie Raymond, Krista Raymond and Robert(Stephanie)Edwards; 7 great grandchildren, Hayden Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Annysia Moellering, Charlee Johnston, CJ Johnston, Daniel Edwards and Madison Edwards.
