Rosa Jeanne Johnson

Jeanne Johnson of Indianola, Iowa passed away on September 16, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianola on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rosa Jeanne Johnson was born August 26, 1922 to Perry and Bonnie Anderson in Illif, Colorado. Jeanne graduated from Rippy High School in Rippy, Iowa in 1940 and received a teaching certificate in 1942 from Chadron State Teachers College in Nebraska. Her Masters Degree in Education was from Drake University in Des Moines. Jeanne taught 35 years in Dayton, Norwalk and Des Moines school systems.

On August 20, 1942, Jeanne married Glen V. Johnson in Dayton, Iowa. He preceded her in death after 65 years of marriage on September 2, 12007. She was active in her church and in Kappa Kappa Iota, a professional Teachers Sorority. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader and a talented needle worker. Those left to honor her memory are son, David (Vera) Johnson of Clinton, IA; daughters, Angela (Joseph) Todisco of Syracuse, NY and Debra (Bradley) Shoemaker of Fair Grove, MO; five grandsons, Brent (Amy Mohr) Johnson of Cedar Falls, IA, Christopher (Natalie) Johnson of Peoria, IL., Joseph (Danielle) Todisco of Syracuse, NY., Chad ( Jennifer) Shoemaker of Las Vegas, NV., Clinton (Sara) Shoemaker of Winterville, NC.; nine great grandchildren; brother, Perry (Dee) Anderson; sister, Bonnie (Bob) Morrow and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death beside her husband were her parents, two sisters, Delita and Mae and brother, Carl.
