Rosetta (Rose) Elvera Baumgarn passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Vintage Hills in Indianola, Iowa at the age of 92. Funeral services for Rose will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10:30 AM, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianola. A visitation will begin at 9:00 AM prior to services at the church. Interment will take place the following day at 1:00 PM, in the Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park, Iowa followed by a memorial visitation at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa from 4:00-6:00 PM.
Rose was born April 8, 1924 in Harris, Iowa to George and Tena (Post) Ihnen. Rose’s childhood years were spent in the Harris/Lake Park, Iowa area. Rose married Marvin Baumgarn on July 19, 1946 in Lake Park. Marvin and Rose spent the early years of their marriage in Lake Park before moving to Royal, Iowa in 1952. Rose worked alongside Marvin in their farm supply business. She also assembled fishing rods for Berkley and was a housekeeper at St. Lukes Lutheran Home in Spencer.Rose was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianola.
Rose is survived by her son Steven (Ann) Baumgarn of Las Cruces, NM.; her daughter, Sheryl (Al) Olson of Carlisle, IA.; sister, Frances Laufman of Rice Lake, WI.; 6 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, George and Tena; husband, Marvin; infant son, Stanton; infant great grandson, Nicolas; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Memorial gifts may be directed to the Iowa Great Lakes Lutheran School in Spencer, Iowa or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianola.
