Gene Oran Ingram passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2017 also at the church with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. Interment with military honors will follow services in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday. Gene was born on May 24, 1938 in Cliffside, North Carolina to William and Jewell Ingram. Gene graduated high school and joined the United States Air Force. Gene then went on to graduate from Bellevue University. Gene worked as an insurance auditor for Equifax. Gene met and married his wife Elaine on May 24, 1958 and together they raised two children, Alan and Anne. Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He loved to hunt and watch his dogs work. Gene was an avid New York Yankees and Cubs fan. He also enjoyed Nebraska football but wasn’t happy with them over the last few years. Most important to him were his grandchildren. He loved to watch them play sports. Gene is survived by his wife Elaine of Indianola; children, Alan Ingram of Des Moines and Anne(Wayne)Mullins of Norwalk; sister, Rose Dothard of Alabama; grandchildren, Stephen Ingram, Brian Ingram, Keaton Mullins, Kade Mullins, Clinton Clark, Kimberley Renshaw and 2 great grandchildren, Timothy and Lukas Ingram. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bill D. Ingram.
