Larry Brown passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 while hunting in rural Warren County. Funeral services for Larry will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, with burial to follow in the Carlisle City Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Larry was born on April 17, 1940 in Albert City, Iowa to Melvin Brown and Phyllis Black. Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army and later worked for Iowa Power and Light as a lineman and a substation tech. Larry is survived by his loving wife Nellie (Hatfield) Brown of Carlisle; daughter, Cathleen(Andrew)Phillips of Old Avon; Larry's pride and joy, grandson Joseph Brown; brother, Ronald Brown of West Point and sisters, Patricia Hase of Guttenberg and Delores Killen of Carlisle. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Phyllis Brown and a brother LeRoy Brown. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
