Elaine Marie Hall
(June 22, 1951 - September 9, 2017)Elaine Marie (Kenoyer) Hall “Lainey” was called to Heaven on September 9th, 2017, due to complications of diabetes. Elaine was the daughter of Ted and Eleanor Kenoyer of Ackworth, Iowa, born on June 22nd, 1951. She was a graduate of Indianola High School, Class of 1969. Lainey was the librarian in the high school for a time. In 1970, she attended business college in Olathe, Kansas where she met her future husband, Gene. Gene and Elaine were married May 16th, 1970. On May 19th, 1972, their daughter Angela was born. Elaine was active in 4-H as a member and leader, where she won awards for cooking and sewing. She was a member of WCG (Women for Constitutional Government), where she actively lobbied, including the lobby for home schooling. Lainey was a former employee of Look Magazine and Bankers Trust. Later, Elaine was also an ESL instructor, where she helped the Hispanic society learn English. As a devout Christian Elaine served as a Sunday School Teacher. Above all else Elaine was a wife, mother and homemaker. Lainey is preceded in death by her parents Everett T. Kenoyer and Eleanor M. (Triggs) Kenoyer, older brother Buddy, as well as her grandparents who adopted her Everett L. Kenoyer and Edith M. (McCoy) Kenoyer. Elaine is survived by her husband of 47 years Gene, daughter Angela (Matt) Rehbein of Norwalk, IA, granddaughter Hanna, grandson Cole of Santé Fe, NM, honorary grandson Christopher Miller of Des Moines, IA, sister Dorothy Hurst of Marionette, WI, brother Ronald (Kara) Kenoyer of Indianola, IA, niece Shannon (Nicholas) Crawford of Ackley, IA, and their family, niece Melissa (Brian) Bex of Marionette, WI and their family, her beloved Cockatoo ET, as well as numerous other friends and family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 5615 SW 14th St, in Des Moines, on Saturday, September 16th @11am . In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the Iowa Diabetes Foundation in her name.
