A memorial service will be held in the Heritage room at The Village on Friday, January 8th at 2:30 p.m. in Indianola. Gini passed away on Wednesday, January 6th, 2016 at The Village in Indianola, IA, her home for several years. Gini was born on April 20, 1923 to Perry and Mae Nowels. Her parent's marriage did not last and her mother married Harry Marsh bringing her family to Carlisle, Iowa where Gini was raised. Gini graduated from Carlisle High School in 1941. Like other young people of that generation, Gini felt the call to military duty during World War II and joined the Navy Waves. She was stationed on both coasts during her service and was eventually discharged while serving in San Diego, Ca. She returned to Carlisle and worked in the office of Dr. Paul Oshana until her marriage to Bob James on September 12, 1945. Gini then followed Bob to North Carolina where he finished out his service in the US Army. The couple returned to Carlisle and started their family having 2 sons, Larry Bill and Scott. Gini stayed at home caring for her family and supporting Bob when he bought his first service station in 1947. That service station eventually evolved into James Oil Company and is still in business today run by her son, Scott. Gini is survived by her son Scott (Bev) James of Hartford, grandsons Devin James of Dallas, Tx and Logan James of West Des Moines along with her sister Pat Reynolds of Carlisle as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob James, her son, Larry Bill James, her sister, Ecil Turner and her brothers, Jack, Ed and Bill Nowels. Memorials can be made to the Carlisle Christian Church. Online condolences can be made at www.petersonfuneralservice.com
