Lifelong resident Ed Hardin, 93, passed away early Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Carlisle Care Center after suffering strokes and the effects of Alzheimer's. He was a long time farmer and businessman-owning Farmers Grain and Feed. He had served two terms on Carlisle City Council and was a lifelong member of Carlisle United Methodist Church. In later years, Ed worked the golf season for Willow Creek Golf Course and he and Wilma spent the winters in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Worth and Veda Hardin and brother, William Hardin. Surviving are wife, Wilma, married in Greene Co. August 8, 1940; two sons, Tom (Gayle) Hardin of Lee's Summit, MO, and Jim (Marla) Hardin of Pella; grandchildren, Mike (Kathi), Steve (Katie), Jeff (Carrie) and Brent Hardin, Alissa (Chad) Van Rheenen and Lori (Brian) Conway and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Peterson Funeral Home in. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Township Cemetery. The family has selected Carlisle United Methodist Church to receive memorials in Ed's memory.
