Mrs. Elizabeth McCoy
Mrs. Elizabeth Sheridan McCoy was born near Pittsburg, Pa., December 13th, 1837, and died at her home in Indianola, February 20th, 1915, at the age of seventy-seven years, two months and eight days. On November 16th, 1858, she was married to John W. McCoy, and she faithfully filled the place of wife and mother, until the union was broken by the death of Mr. McCoy, seven years ago, April 12th, 1908. When a young girl she made public confession of her faith in Christ, and joined the United Presbyterian church of Union, Pa., and coming to Indianola, she transferred her membership to the United Presbyterian church here, and in her devotion to Christ she shared in the privileges and labors of this church until the time of her death.
Five children were born in this home, four of who are living, A.W. McCoy of Oakland, Cal.; T. G. McCoy of Scotch Ridge; Mrs. R. W. Graham, and Mrs. Charles E. Robertson of this city. Mrs. McCoy is also survived by a brother, William Sheridan, of Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Nancy George, Kansas City; a half-brother, Joseph Sheridan, Piqua, Ohio, and a half-sister, Mrs. Laura Blake of Ohio. The funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, and were conducted by Rev. J. S. Wilson, pastor of the United Presbyterian church.
The members of the family desire to express to the friends and neighbors their thanks for the kindness rendered, and to the Missionary society, and to the Outlook circle their appreciation of the flowers sent during the sickness and death of their mother.
