Obituary – Morris Utterson
Morris Ermile Utterson, son of Robert and Mae Utterson, was born at Summerset, Iowa, December 15, 1907. He came with his parents to Carlisle, Iowa in September 1917, where he resided until his death, which occurred July 11, 1920. Thus, his brief life covered only a period of twelve years, six months and twenty-six days. He was of a family of eleven children, and besides his father and mother, is survived by seven brothers and three sisters, his death being the first break in the family circle. Morris attended the Carlisle school and was a member of the fifth grade. During the revival meetings last winter, he became interested in the Master’s service, expressing his desire to live a Christian life and united with the Methodist church. He was a faithful attendant to the Sunday school and Junior League, and was always willing to take part in anything he was asked to do. He was kind and cheerful in disposition and possessed those traits which make a real wide-awake boy. He was seemingly strong in health until his last illness, which was only a few days duration due to an acute attack of indigestion, which, in the end, developed into meningitis. Thus, in the midst of youth, God, in his infinite wisdom, many times sees best to take our children “unto himself.” Funeral service was held at the home on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Weingart, of Scotch Ridge, and interment in Carlisle cemetery.
