Obituary – Roland E. Overton
Roland E. Overton, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Overton, was born near Summerset, Iowa, March 17, 1913, and passed away in the hospital in Des Moines, July 20, 1920, at the age of seven years, four months and three days. We will miss you, Roland, your happy disposition, and your pleasant smile will linger with us in the years to come, ever reminding us, that though only seven years had been given unto you, life in that short time had been lived that your little companions with whom you mingled in Sunday school and play as well as us older people might learn a lesson of enjoying the allotted time that God permits us to live and be able to spread cheer and sunshine along life’s pathway. Roland leaves to mourn his departure a loving father and mother, one brother, Gerald, and one sister, Lois, besides a host of other relatives and friends. All that earthly hands could do, was done for him. Although a great sufferer, he was patient and happy until called home to be with one who said, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me.” Funeral service was held at Summerset Baptist church Thursday morning at 9 o’clock, conducted by Edgar Thompson of Lorimer, and the little body was laid to rest in Carlisle cemetery.
