OBITUARY

We are called to witness the passing away of one more of our Warren county old settlers and one that will fill the neighborhood with sorrow on learning the sad news. The deceased is Mr. George G. Nuzum, of this place [Indianola, IA]. The deceased leaves a wife, seven sons, three daughters, thirty grandchildren and 1 great grand child to mourn his loss. Four sons and the three daughters were at his bedside at the time of his last moments, when he called their names one by one and bid them good-by for the last time on earth. His mind was sane till the last moment. His other three sons live in Harrison county, Iowa but could not be there. Mr. Nuzum was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, in the year 1823. He would have been 69 this coming September. Mr. Nuzum came to Iowa in the year 1855, when the Indians were quite troublesome in Iowa, but worrying through those troublesome days in the eastern part of the State, selling his farm, he came to Warren county 22 years ago and purchased a farm in Jackson township, where the deceased lived till the High Power called for him for a better place. Good-by father. O come, let us sing unto the Lord. Let us make joyful noise unto the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgivings and make a joyful, joyful noise unto Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God and a great king. In his hand are deep places of earth; the strength of the hills is His also. J. W. N.
