Henry D. Flesher
Henry Daris Flesher, son of Perry and Alcinda Flesher, was born in McClain county, Illinois, September 4, 1852, and died at the Methodist hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, December 23, 1922, age seventy years, three months and nineteen days. He came when a small child with his parents to Iowa, settling near the present town of Van Wert, Decatur County, remaining there for a short time, during which time they were in the path of a cyclone which destroyed their home and severely injured one brother, Joseph.
The family then moved to Missouri, and after a few years residence there settled in Liberty Center, [Iowa] which became the home of the family for the life time of the parents.
He was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Campfield on March 22nd, 1877. To them was born five children, a daughter dieing in infancy. There yet survive him his invalid wife, a daughter, Amy, who resides at home, three sons, Clarence, Frank and Ray, all of Warren county and five grandchildren. Also five brothers as follows: Orlando and Joseph of Jamestown, Kansas; John Alfred, of St. Charles, South Dakota; Andrew M. and Harrison B., both of Liberty Center, besides a host of relatives and friends who mourn him as a trusted friend and neighbor.
He united with the Methodist Episcopal church in early manhood, remaining in that fellowship during his life time, being a member of the Methodist church at Indianola, Iowa, at the time of his death. The funeral services were conducted at his home, by his pastor, Dr. Willis, assisted by his long time friend and former pastor, Rev. C. W. Proctor. The body was laid to rest in the Odd Fellows cemetery at Liberty Center.
