Clarence Jacobs
(Apr 20, 1891 - Mar 19, 1895)

Jesse Jacob’ Little Boy Cremated
Tuesday evening the neighbors of Jesse Jacobs, living on the Barnett farm in White Breast township, discovered his barn to be on fire. Mr. Jacobs was in the timber and Mrs. Jacobs was busy with her household cares. At the first alarm, with true motherly instinct, she looked for her little ones. All were safe but her little four year old, Clarence. In a twinkling she surmised the awful truth and her agony of soul was heart rendering to the sympathizing but powerless to aid spectators. As soon as the heat would allow, a search was made, but only the limbless, disfigured trunk of what, but a few brief moments before, was a bright, happy, mother’s darling was recovered. It is supposed that he had gone into the barn and started the fire, as no one else was about. Together with the barn, five valuable horses, harness, feed and other articles were destroyed.
