Amos H. Lacy
(Sep 28, 1834 - May 17, 1903)

Amos H. Lacy was born in Clinton, Ohio, September 28, 1834 and died at his home in Milo May 17, 1903, at the age of 68 years 7months, and 19 days.
He moved to Warren county, Iowa, in 1855, was married to Hattie Chase March 7, 1862. To this union was born one child, Joseph L., which died in infancy. Mr. Lacy enlisted, September 1864, in Co. G, 40th Iowa Infantry and served till the close of the war and was honorably discharged in August 1865. Mr. and Mrs. Lacy, during their married life, furnished a home for six orphan children.
Mr. Lacy was a long and patient sufferer; and during his last sickness expressed himself as prepared for the great beyond and anxious to leave this world of affliction and be at rest. He was an honored member of Milo G. A. R. Post and of Milo Lodge No. 413 I. O.O.F., and greatfully received their care during his illness.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Tuesday at 11 a, M., conducted by Rev. C. S. Fair, assisted by Rev. W. B. Pond and Rev. John Harned. The Grand Army order assisted as pall bearers and the Odd Fellows order took charge of the burial services. A large concourse of people followed the remains to their last resting place in the Odd Fellows' cemetry north of Milo. Mr. Lacy was a man known for his good deeds and kindness shown to those in need, always ready to assist any who were in need of a friend.
