Isabella Amsberry
(Dec 12, 1849 - Dec 5, 1908)

Obituary—Mrs. M. J. Amsberry
Isabella McTaggart was born in Washington county, Ohio, December 12, 1849, and died at her home in Milo, Iowa, December 5th, 1908, aged 58 years, 11 months and 23 days. Her mother having died in Ohio, when she was 10 years old, she came with her father and family to Iowa, locating near Durham, in Marion county. Her father died there in July 1894.
On December 12, 1885, she was married to M. J. Amsberry, in Marion county. In 1888 having purchased a farm near Milo, they removed to it, living there until retiring to Milo, where they have since made their home. Three chiIdren were born to them; Chester, Everett and Mollie, all of whom survive their mother. Surviving her also are her husband, four brothers: Sandy, of Paua, Illinois,. Danial, of Knoxville, Iowa, Edwin, of Enid, Oklahoma, and Douglas, of' Utica, Nebraska. Also four stepchildren survive her, and to all of whom she has been a mother. All were present at her funeral, save three brothers.
It is not very often that we meet. a person who becomes thoroughly resigned in a time of trouble, or sickness. But, Milo has just seen, an instance of it. We speak now of Mrs.Isabella Amsberry. Though she seemed hopeful at all times getting well, and talked about certain plans of her household, she still had no murmur to offer because of pains. When a operation was talked about as a means of bring relief, she was right in for it. Her courage. seemed equal to anything. It is seldom we see a person who will be as much missed in the community, as Mrs.Amsberry. Her home was always open and her grace of hospitality was of the most unstinted. Her neighborliness has called forth many expressions of appreciations, and she will not soon be forgotten in this community. We will certainly miss her in the church. She held a large place in the hearts of all the members. She was at all the meetings as far as her strength would permit, was always at the meetings of the Missionary society, and the Kensingtons. In all the deliberations she took a modest part, but a part that showed careful and loving consideration. But where will she be more missed than in her home. As wife and mother, what a void her taking away will make. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the entire family.
