James Cruchelow
(October 16, 1828 - April 3, 1910)

Obituary—James Cruchelow
James Cruchelow was born October 16, 1828, at Murphysboro, North Carolina. He moved to Ohio where he lived a few years and then moved to Iowa, locating near Sandyville. He was married to Elizabeth Jane Hicks, November 18, 1858. To this union was born six children, five of which are still living. His wife died June 10, 1868. He was again married to Elizabeth Jane Sherman, May 20, 1869. To this union was born nine children, eight of whom are still living. His second wife died April 23, 1887. In the spring of 1895, he with his children moved to Gentry, county, Missouri. He again moved back to Iowa in 1901, where he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Martha Johns, until death came, April 3, 1910. He leaves thirteen children, twenty-seven grandchildren and ten great grand children. Seven of his children were at his bedside when he passed away: Martha, Mollie, Laura, Ben, Sam, Robert, and Edward. B. Cruchelow lives in Canada and James lives in Oaklahoma. Dora, Sherman and Henry live in Missouri.
He united with the Christian church in Jan. 1906 and lived a faithfull member until death came. He was a kind and affectionate father, a good and honest neighbor, and loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted by C. S. Fair in the Christian church at Sandyville, April 5th, after which all that was mortal of this quiet sojourner was laid to rest in the beautiful Sandyville cemetery.
