George Dean Burgess
(Jan 24, 1898 - May 6, 1910)

Obituary—Dean Burgess
George Dean Burgess was born in Caloma, Iowa, Jan. 24, 1898, died in Milo, Iowa, May 6, 1910, aged 12 years, 3 months and 12 days. He leaves father, mother, one brother, Byron, and two sisters, Mrs. Clare Williams and Dana to mourn his loss.
Home to the child is his world, he knows no other. The father's love, the mother's smile, the brother's and sister's welcome, throw about his home a halo and make it as attractive to him as the home of angels—and from such a home "Little Dean" whose short life of twelve years has been a joy and comfort to his father and mother, brother and sisters, was called to a better and happier home above.
For the past five years he has been afflicted with rheumatism. Every care has been given him that loving and skilled hands could give, but the Heavenly Father knew best and called him suddenly Friday morning at nine o'clock to leave his suffering here, and he has gone to a home of perpetual rest, the streets of which are thronged with angels, who with songs on their lips, tell of neither the suffering nor the pain of this life.
Dean was interested in every thing that pertains to school life, and was loved by his teachers and playmates. When the school bell rings they will miss him on the play ground and in the school room. In the home he was a bright and shining light, and now with the vacant chair at the fireside, who can realize the loss but papa, mamma and little twin sister Dana who was his constant playmate and companion. Funeral services were conducted by C. S. Fair at the M. E. church in Milo, Sunday, May 8, in the presence of a very large and sympathetic audience after which the casket covered with beautiful flowers containing all that was mortal of this bright and winsome boy was tenderly laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
