Lillian Guy
(July 2, 1879 - Aug 19, 1909)

Obituary—Mrs. Lillian Guy
On Thursday morning at 2 o'clock occured the death of Lillian Guy, the daughter of John and Clara McNeer. She was born in Warren county, Iowa July 2, 1879, and died August 19, 1909, at Serra Madre, California, aged 30 years, 1 month and 17 days. She was united in marriage to John Guy, December 9, 1897. To this union was born one son, Gerald.
She had been a hopeful and patient sufferer for two years, never complaining, always hopeful that her health would be better. When she was told by the physician that she had the dreaded decease consumption and her life might be spared for a longer time if she would change climate, she immediately decided to make the change. In August 1907 she started., for Las Vegas, New Mexico and in November moved again to Alamogordo, New Mexico, remaining there until they left for Serre Madri, California, about two months ago.
She was converted at the age of fifteen years and joined the Christian church near her home, afterwards uniting with the Church of Christ in Christian Union at Belmont Zion. She has lived a life of the faithful, trusting in her Savior, having a hope of the life beyond as she expressed it to her dear father and mother who were ever near and ever ready to attend her calls and to give her all the courage and help human hands could give, but the time came when human hands could go no farther, then her dear Savior led her safely over the Jordan of death and anchored her soul in the haven of rest.
Lillie had a loving, forebearing and energetic disposition, never shirking a duty that she felt would lighten the burden of another. Always had a smile and a welcome for all her friends and dear ones, a warm spot in her heart for all her Iowa friends, calling Iowa her "Sweet Home."
She will be greatly missed in her home as well as in her social circle. She said to a friend of hers in Sierra Madre that she was going to Jesus. She did not say much about her future to her mother as it grieved her so to hear her speak of leaving. Her dear faithful mother was with her during her entire sickness and death, her husband and father were with her at different times several weeks during her affliction. All that wealth and loving care could do for her was done to restore her to health, but Jesus saw fit to call her home so ends the life of one more child of God. The Christian people of Sierra Madre held a short service at the house and then accompanied the remains to the train which was to bring it to Iowa to its last resting place. The body arrived in Milo Tuesday, August 24. Funeral service was conducted by Rev, C. S. Fair, assisted by Rev. R. J. Tennant at the Presbyterian church, in the presence of a large audience of relatives and sympathizing friends, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Odd Fellows cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, one son, Gerald, four years old; a father and mother; two sisters, Mrs. Della Davey, of Milo, and Mrs. Laura Ohaver, of Fullerton, Nebraska; one brother, Chancy McNeer, of Milo, and a host of relatives and friends.
