Robert B. Crawford
(Feb 22, 1822 - Feb 24, 1909)

Robert B. Crawford was born in Lawrence county, Alabama, February 22, 1822, and died at his old home four miles southwest of Milo, February. 24, 1909, age 87 years and two days.
When about six years old his parents moved to Cowles county, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. In 1843 lie was united in marriage with Ruth Beeson. Three sons and three daughters blessed their union, all being present at the funeral except one daughter, Mrs. Rachel Daugherty, of Livonia, Missouri.
Grandpa Crawford was converted at the age of 17 and for 70 years his faith in Christ never wavered. He was honest, true and loving, and greatly loved by all who knew him. For about twenty years he held his membership with the Church of Christ in Christian Union at Plainville Chapel.
His beloved companion died in October, 1897, but the deceased continued to reside with his daughter on the farm that had been his home for over forty years.
This aged pilgrim has reached the end of life's long weary journey and "crossed over the river with the boatmen pale." For nearly four score years and ten he has gladdened the hearts of those [with whom] he came in contact. But now the dear old hands are folded across the peaceful breast. Hands that have ministered to the suffering, soothed the aching brow and smoothed our pathway with loving deeds are no longer responsive to our touch and our hearts ache and our tears fall, but the gentle eyes are forever closed and he heeds neither tears nor caresses, for the spirit has left its tenement of clay.
Among the ripest of the sheaves, in Christian strength he trod. He walked among the autumn leaves, and heard the voice of God. Funeral services were conducted by 0. S. Fair at Hammondsburg February 26th, where interment took place.
