Jeremiah M. Kimzey
(Dec 25, 1829 - July 13, 1910)

Obituary
"There is no death in heaven: for they who gain that shore, have won their immortality, and they can die no more."
Several weeks the spirit of Jeremiah M. Kimzey took its flight into eternity. This last illness from dropsy and heart failure was soon found to be hopeless. The tender ministrations of loving hands could not longer stay the inevitable, and the Grim Reaper garnered another soul into the harvest. Mr. Kimzey has been a resident of Warren County since 1855. He was born in Hamilton County, Illinois, December 25th, 1829, and was therefore 80 years, 6 months, and 18 days old. April 10th, 1851, he was united in marriage with Viania Richardson, to this union was born four sons and two daughters, Frank, Eliza, Albert, Henry, Minta, and James; all of whom except the eldest son, Frank, preceded him to the great beyond. At one time in his life he was a member of the Methodist church, but at the time of his death he was not identified with any religious organization, but he fully realized his time on earth was short and several months ago arranged his temporal affairs and seemed to leave no fear of the solemn parting hour that awaits us all. He was a kind husband and father a good neighbor, a friend to all, therefore all were his friends. A good man has gone from among us. Peace to his remains. He had been a prominent member of the Masons for over 40 years and at his own request the Masonic brethren were present at the funeral to honor his memory and lay his mortal remains to rest with the honors of his beloved order. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving wife who for almost 60 years had trod life's rugged pathway with him, one son, two brothers, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted by the writer assisted by Rev. Joseph Griffin at Plainville Chapel, July 1, in the presence of a large audience of relatives and friends.
