Obituary-Samuel Hoffman
Samuel Hoffman was born in Highland County Ohio July 4, 1837, and departed this life at his home in Ackworth, Iowa, January 26 1910, age 73 years, 6 months, 22 days.
The deceased came to Iowa in 1876 and settled in Marion County. About 22 years ago he moved to Warren County which has since been his residence. He was united in marriage to Irene Taylor in 1858. To which union were born seven sons and four daughters, four of whom preceded their father to the eternal world, Ella, Anna, Eddie, Arthur. The father is survived by five sons, viz William, Robert, Albert, Elmer, and Orland and two daughters, Emma and Gertie.
The deceased united with the Christian Church at Sandyville about 20 years ago and has retained his membership there. During his last illness he frequently spoke to his family and friends of his readiness to depart this life and seemed perfectly resigned to Gods will. He has for number of years been a great sufferer but is now at rest. He was a good father and neighbor and leaves behind a large circle of friends who pause to pay tribute to his memory. Funeral serices was conducted by C. S. Fair in the Friends church at Ackworth Jan. 28, 1910, in the presence of a large audience of neighbors and friends after which the interment took place in the beautiful Ackworth cemetery.
