Catherine A. Notestine
(Sep 14, 1829 - Aug 3, 1910)

Is Now At Rest
"The garden gates were opened wide, a gentle voice said come, and angels from the other side welcomed our loved one home."
Catherine A. Barber Notestine was born in the state of New York, September 14, 1829. She was married to John A. Notestine June 1st, 1854. They made their home in Illinois for eleven years and moved to Iowa the spring of 1856 where they have since resided. Four children were born to this union. Grandma Notestine was a woman of strong character, of many sterling virtues and had been a faithful member of the Methodist church for many years. Life's fitful fever o'er she passed peacefully away on Wednesday morning, August 3, 1910 at the ripe old age of 80 years,10 months and 19 days. Like one who lies down to pleasant dreams with a smile on her countenance, she passed away like a sleeping babe without a struggle. She will long be held in loving remembrance by a large circle of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Runyan in Milo, August 4, 1910 conducted by C. S. Fair assisted by Rev. Beecham. The quartet sang very sweetly and impressively those beautiful hymns "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "It is Well with My Soul," and "Asleep in Jesus." The casket bore the single word "mother" and was decorated with a beautiful floral wreath and many bouquets of flowers. The interment took place at the Belmont Zion Cemetery.
