She Sleeps in Peace
Marie, daughter of Mell and Cassie Stitt, was born in Milo, Iowa, December 11, 1894, and after an illness of one week answered the Master’s call , May 4, 1907, at the age of 12 years, 4 months, and 23 days. As she went out across the dark river another home was made desolate, but death halted not in its onward march, but with rushless tread crushed our hearts, laid hold of our darling that we all loved, and with unspoken good bye’s she fell asleep. Marie was a bright, kind and affectionate child and will be sadly missed by all, especially in the home where she leaves to mourn their loss, a father, mother and one brother.
Last winter Marie decided for Christ and signed one of the pledge cards and during her illness her prayers ascended to a throne of grace as sweet incense in behalf of all her loved ones. She is not dead, not lost, “Just gone within the veil.”
Funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Rev Johnson at the M. E. church, Monday, May 6th, after which the flower-laden casket was taken to the Hammondsburg cemetery and tenderly placed beside the remains of a brother which awaited her in the land of the blessed where by the beautiful gates she will wait for the loved ones to come.
