Catherine O. Batten

Obituary.
Catherine O. Johnson was born in Prince Edward Co., Va., Feb. 5th, 1821, and died at her home in Milo, Iowa Jan. 20th, 1908, age, 86 years, 11 months, and 15 days. In 1836 she moved with her parents to Green Co, Ohio, where she grew to womanhood. Sept. 23rd, 1841 she was united in marriage with Martin G. Oldaker. To this union three children were born: Rebekati, McKindre B., and Matin G. W., none of whom survive her. Her husband departed this life in the year of 1846, and in the year 1856 she removed with her family to Warren Co., Iowa. On the 4th day of Jan. 1858, she was again married to Benj. O. Batten. To this union three sons were born: John Edward, Hershel V. J., and Charley C., of Pueblo, Col. She united. with the Church of Christ in Christian Union at Plainville Chapel when it was organized. A number of years ago moving to Kansas in 1886 she joined the M. E. church, and during her long life until old age and weakness would not permit, was a regular attendent at church services. Life's fever o're she is now at rest. Like any who lies down to pleasant dreams, she passed away like a sleeping babe without a struggle and will be missed by a large circle of relatives and friends,
"No more the weary feet shall roam. Life's troubled pathway o're. But in, the light and love of home, find rest for evermore."
Funeral services were held at the residence by C. S. Fair, after which the remains were taken to the Plainville cemetery and deposited in the silent grave towait for the first sound of the trumpet.
