He accepted Christ as his Saviour and united with the Christian church in 1858. Twelve years ago he united with the Church of Christ in Christian Union at Belmont Zion, am remained an honored member until his death. For the last two years father Starr has been in poor health and at times his faithful wife and children felt the end was not far off, yet be lived until Thanksgiving evening. Gods finger touched him and be slept. Thus another life is ended, one that sheds rare perfume and beauty in the quiet way of living the noble Christian life he professed. Living, he was loved by those that knew him best. Dying, the teaching of his noble life will remain indelibly fixed in the hearts that ache with the parting, but he has gone to that heavenly home. "Weep not, his toils are over. Weep not his race is run, God grant we may rest as calmly, when our work, like his, is done"
Funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Rev. Eveland of the Belmont Zion church, Sunday, Dec 1st. The words of the.text were, "Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like his, Number 23. Miss Nora Schee, a granddaughter of the deceased, sang a very beautiful solo, after which all that was mortal of this good man was tenderly consigned to the narrow limits of tomb.
