William H. Talbott
(March 29, 1847 - Nov 6, 1907)

Answered The Roll Call.
Death has again spread its black wings over our community and taken away Wm. H. Talbott, who was born in Belmont county, Ohio, March 29, 1847 and died at his home in Milo, Nov. 6th, 1907, at the age of 60 years, 17 months and 7 days. He came to Belmont. township, Warren county, Iowa, with his parents in 1854 and has made that his home until the time of his death. He enlisted in company D, 33rd Iowa Infantry at Oskaloosa in October 1862 and served. with his regiment until the end of the war [Civil War]. He was married to Miss Sarah A. Briggs, October 1, 1878. To this union three children were born, Ralph Talbott of Davenport, Grace of Milo and Mrs. Kate Rambo of Des Moines. He joined the I. O.O. F. lodge at Sandyville in 1875 and when the the lodge at Milo was organized he went in as a charter member. Hewas also a charter member of the G. A. R. post of Milo and for a number of years had been a member of the Milo lodge A. F. and A. M.
He joined the M. E. church at Milo in 1891 and remained a member until his death. Besides his wife and children, he leaves one brother, A. D. Talbott of Belmont township, two sisters Mrs. A. C. Ralph of Lacona and Mrs. Mary Dobson of Highmore, S. Dakota . Funeral services were held at the home on Friday, Nov.8 at 10 a. m., conducted by Milo I. O. O. F. lodge, No. 413 and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery north of. town to await the resurection morn.—C. S. Fair.
