Charles V. Davis
(July 14, 1821 - Nov 20, 1905)

Obituary.
Charles V. Davis was born in the state of New York, July 14, 1821, and died at his home in Milo, Nov. 20, 1905, age 84 years, 4 months and 6 days. He was left an orphan when a mere child and emigrated to the state of Indiana in 1842, and was united in marriage with Jane Best in 1845. To this union were born ten children. Five children and his companion proceeded him to the better land. The children living are Mrs: Laura Hobbs and Mrs. Kate Brown of Milo, Douglas of Ft. Morgan, Colo., Frank of Osceola, Iowa, and John of Des Moines, Iowa; all of whom were present at the time of his demise. Mr. Davis was an old settler in this part of the country, having located here some time in the fifties. For several years he had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Hobbs. During his sore afflictions which lasted many months, all that loving hearts. and willing hands could possibly do was done for his comfort. He was an honest upright citizen held in high esteem by a large circle of relatives and friends. He was not a member of any church but often read the word of God and expressed himself as not being afraid to risk the future.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by C. S. Fair and the body was taken to Osceola for burial Nov. 22.
