Clara E. Bertholf
(July 23, 1876 - Jan 9, 1906)

Clara E., the daughter of James and Jane Starr, was born July 23rd, 1876. In her girlhood she united with the New Hope organization of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, at Union Chapel, Lincoln township. October 17, 1900 she was united in marriage to Ellis E. Bertholf, characterizing her married life by unselfish devotion and loyalty to husband and home.
To them, December 18, 1905, was born a son, Halden Starr Bertholf. From this happy little home Mrs. Bertholf was summoned by death January 9, 1906, leaving her baby boy, her grief stricken husband, her devoted parents, her affectionate sister, two brothers, fond friends and associates to meet the reward of her life of almost thirty years of unselfishness and loyalty to her friends and her loved ones. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett, of the Christian Church of Winterest, from the Christian Union church at Ord.
One by one our friends are gaining happy homes beyond the sky; if our lamps are trimmed and burning, we shall meet them by and by. M. K.
Dear mother, she has gone away, where comes no more the winter’s day; her savior called, she had to go, and leave her loved ones here below.
