Robert R. McNair
(March 15, 1828 - April 5, 1897)

At his residence in this city on Monday, April 5, 1897, Robert R. McNair passed from this life to the life to come; aged 69 years, 22 days. Mr. McNair was born in Pennsylvania, where be grew to Manhood and where on October 10, 1852, he was married to Miss Nancy McNeer. Coming west about 27 years ago, they settled in Iowa. He was a long and patient sufferer, having been confined to his home by disease for about a year and a half, often praying that the time might speedily come when it would be the will of his creator to release him from his tenement of clay. At one time in his life he was a member of the Methodist church, but at the time of his death he was not identified with any religious organization, but often expressed himself to his family and friends as being ready to go and meet his Redeemer. He was a kind husband, a man of pure morals, a kind neighbor, a friend to all, therefore all were his friends. A good man has gone to his reward. Peace be to his remains.
On the morning after the messenger called for our brother, how brightly did the sun shine. Frowns had fled from nature's visage and only smiles were upon nature's countenance. The silent rain tears so lately falling were dried and there seemed to be a bright prophecy of clear skies. The night which had brought bereavement and grief had closed in with shadows, but He turned them into the morning. Let
us hope that life's waning day has been transformed into the glorious sunlight of immortality.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist church northeast of Milo, conducted by Rev. C., S. Fair.
