Kevin K. McKasson, 59, of Indianola, IA, passed away on September 28, 2015. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 38 years, Nancy; children, Korey (Erica), Casey (Amanda), Cody (Heather) and Abbie; nine grandchildren, Skyler, Dylan, Madysen, Braden, Aubrey, Jensyn, Quinten, Hinley and Hadley; siblings, Kristy (Woody) English, Kyle, Kerry, and Kim (Danny) Brady; uncle, Howard Netley; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leolen (Ike) and Beverly McKasson; sister, Kathy Prickett; grandson, Owen McKasson; uncle, Gordon Netley who was like a brother; parents-in-law, Virgil and Nora Edgington; brothers-in-law, Gary VanderWerff, Randy Wark and Boyd (Gene) Plowman.
Kevin worked in the electrical/maintenance field most of his life, most recently in the Valley Junction area where he made great friends with many of the business owners. Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family and quality time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair, especially watching the 4 & 6 hitch draft horses. He loved everything car racing, including NASCAR, sprints and the Warren County Speedway where two of his sons raced. Two highlights for him were the Richard Petty ride-a-long and extended tour of Daytona Speedway. He enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the country.
Kevin’s family would like to thank Dr. Ganga Prabhakar and the caring staff at Mercy Medical Center Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care unit for their dedicated service.
A celebration of life will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 30 at the church where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or the American Heart Association.
