Charley Frank Curtis

Services are pending for Charley Curtis who passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015. He succumbed to colon cancer. Charley was born October 15, 1934 to Frank S. Curtis and Magnolia (Baskins) Curtis. He is survived by his wife, Christy Curtis; children, Richard and Erin Curtis (wife), Cindy and Ray Waliczek (husband), Clark and Lou Curtis (wife); sister, Denise Allenstein; brother, George and Diann Curtis; grandchildren and great-grandchild. Charley will also be missed by Hairy Curtis (dog) and Jack Curtis (cat).
Charley worked as a teacher at Grettinger Community School, Reinbeck Community School, West Marshall School District, Russell Community School, and Chariton Community School. He taught High School English, General Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. He taught from 1959, after he graduated from Wartburg College, until 1985. Charley then worked at EMCO/Formsteel from 1985 until 2001, when he retired.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the VA Hospital or the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Charley’s name. They would like to thank all the hard working staff of the VA Home Health Program, and all the doctors and staff of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home and the Unity Point Hospice for all of their excellent care and assistance.
