Services for Jon B. Proctor, 65, who passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 in Iowa City, IA, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 3 at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Indianola. Cremation will follow services and burial of cremains will be held at a later date in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Jon loved Carol, his wife and best friend of 45 years. Many memories were made on the back patio, special trips, and times with good friends. He loved his family--kids, grandkids, siblings, and extended family. He was a lover of the game of golf, making memories and lifelong friendships. His twelve years of singing with the Good News Five Gospel singing group were some of his most favorite years serving the LORD. For many years, he was active in the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
Jon was a Renaissance man who used his abilities to serve his children, friends, churches, and service organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Heeth Proctor, Heather (Jase and grandchildren Sayers and Keaton) Johnson, Matthew (Carrie and grandchildren Samuel, Caleb, Elias and Charity) Proctor and Lacey Proctor (grandson Kash); siblings, Ted (Naomi) Proctor, Janann (Dick) Arndt and Donis Frisch; sister-in-law, Paula Wagenseil. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lucille (Wade) Proctor; parents-in-law, George and Mary Ann McDonald; grandson, Kristopher Jon; and two brothers-in-law, Lowell Frisch and Lawrence Wagenseil.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 2 at the Grace Evangelical Free Church with family present from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Indianola Community Youth Foundation.
