Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 10-17-2008:

Funeral services for Mary Jane Hoch, 71, will be Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. Interment will be in the Milo I.O.O. F. Cemetery. A Rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

She enjoyed her garden, flowers, birds, and garage sales. Her home was always open to family, friends, and those in need. She was very caring and giving, never turning anyone away. She loved playing with her family, especially going sledding with her grandchildren. Her favorite things were to get together with family for holidays and picnics.

Mary passed away October 14, 2008 in Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin.

Mary will be missed by her children: Cathy Fitch of Newton, Trisha Hoch of Des Moines, Elizabeth (Ray) Caplinger of Melcher-Dallas, Bobbie (Stacy McVey) Hoch of Des Moines, and David (Marcy) Hoch of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; a sister Louise Moore of Carlisle; and sisters-in-law; Alma Town of Milo and Gloria Hoch of Georgia.
