Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 7-1-2002:

Vivian Elaine Elbert, 68, of Indianola died of a heart ailment Saturday at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola, of which she was a member. Burial will be at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Memorial Gardens Cemetery there.

Mrs. Elbert was born in Ayrshire and had lived in Emmetsburg before moving to Indianola in 1968. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed attending athletic events and her coffee group at Crouse Cafe.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; five sons, Terry and Lou, both of Indianola, Tim of Sapulpa, Okla., Chuck of Fort Dodge, and Don of Fox River Grove, Ill.; two daughters, Nancy Cambron and Angie Borgmeyer, Both of Indianola; three brothers, Merle Thompson of Mason City, Emmett Thompson of Yorba Lindo, Calif., and Jerry Thompson of Schaller; a sister, Helen Struck of Cherokee; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where the family will be present from 5:30 to 8 p.m. A rosary service will be recited at 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church or the Indianola Athletic Booster Club.
