Edith Cora (Streeter) Beeler, daughter of Alice and Henry Swartzlander, was born Nov. 12, 1899, in Tama County, Iowa. She died at her home in Indianola on August 29, 1982, at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 29 days.
As a small child her family moved to Kansas where she lived for four years. In 1905 her family returned to live in Warren County. She attended Indianola Public Schools and graduated from Indianola High School in 1920.
On Aug. 1, 1920, she was united in marriage to Carl E. Streeter. To this union eight children were born; six sons (Harold, Ernest, Rolla, and Richard and two sons who died in infancy) and two daughters (Martha and Rose).
In November, 1950, she married Newton Beeler who died Aug. 30, 1963. For many years, Edith did custodial work at Peoples Trust and Savings Bank.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Harold and Ernest Streeter.
Surviving are two sons, Rolla Streeter of Mendota, Ill., and Rev. Richard Streeter of Sheffield, Ia.; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Page of Indianola and Mrs. Rose Simmerman of Novato, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services conducted by John W. Long were held Sept. 1 at the Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
