Obituary from The Record-Herald and Indianola Tribune newspaper, Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA on 9-18-1985:

Richard Floyd Stewart Jr., son of Richard F. and Judith Foust Stewart, was born in Des Moines on June 8, 1965, and died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Friday, March 15 in Bloomfield Township, Polk County at the age of 19.

Rick attended school at Clarke Community until the second grade when his family moved to an acreage south of Indianola in 1972. He graduated from Indianola High School in 1983. While in high school, he played varsity football during his junior and senior years.

Following graduation he worked with his father in their construction business, Dick Stewart and son Excavating, as a heavy-equipment operator doing primarily soil conservation work. He began operating heavy equipment when he was 15 years old.

Rick lived at home during the first year following high school. During the past year he had shared a mobile home in Indianola with a friend David Day.

Rick liked outdoor activities---skeet shooting, hunting, riding his motorcycle and taking his friends boating. He enjoyed shooting pool with his family and friends. Rick was a very determined young man in achieving his goals in sports, leisure and work.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, George Booth and Lela and Kinzey Foust; and one uncle, Lyle Foust.

Surviving are his parents, Richard and Judy Stewart of rural Indianola; two brothers, Roger Scott and Robert Aaron, both at home; his grandparents, Dale and Virginia Foust and Lawrence and Helen Stewart, all of rural Indianola; and his great-grandmother, Iolas Boothe of Indianola.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. John W. Long were held March 19 at Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in the IOOF Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
