Ernest Edwin Stearns, 75, of Woodburn died of a heart ailment Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1995, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held Jan. 23 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, with burial at Woodburn Cemetery.

Mr. Stearns lived most of his live in Woodburn. He was a farmer and had worked at Ford Implement in Des Moines. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion and Woodburn Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Janice Gray of Indianola and Norma Oliver of Hiram, Ga.; a son, Joseph of Milo; a brother, John of Osceola; four sisters, Carrie Edgerton and Carol Keller, both of Woodburn, Evelyn Routh of Melcher-Dallas, and Josephine Ruark of Lakeview, Ark.; a great-nephew, Jim Baker of Lucas; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospital Medical Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
