Funeral services for Ronald Jerry Stearns, 71, will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 10 a.m., at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Indianola. Family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. Interment will be in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorials to Mt. Ronald was born November 4, 1937 to Darrell and Hilda Hartz Stearns near Lacona. He was married to Dorothy Brooks June 23, 1963 in Stuart, Iowa.

Ronald worked for the Rock Island and Chicago Northwestern railroads for 36 years. He also farmed and enjoyed doing many things including woodworking, and collecting everything from antique cars to stamps. Ronald had served in the Air National Guard for 28 years.

Ronald passed away March 7, 2009 and was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Milo; his children, Diane (Carl) Linnerson of Nebraska City, NE, Ronald Stearns II of Fairfield, Iowa, Sylvia (Lance) Bergeson of Des Moines, and Becky Stearns of Des Moines; four granddaughters; and sisters, Judy (Paul) Lepley of Camdenton, MO, and Janet (Jim) Arey of Tulsa, OK.
