Frank Byron Spear II, 100, of Indianola died of a heart ailment Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Indianola Good Samaritan Center. Services were held May 23, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial at Plainville Cemetery near Milo.
Mr. Spear was born in Warren County and had lived there all his life. He had served in the Army and was Warren County's last surviving World War I veteran. He was a retired farmer and a member of Green Plain United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, American Legion, Liberty Center school board, Warren County Historical Society and Angus Association.
He and his late wife, Vera, were crowned king and queen of the Log Cabin Days Festival.
Survivors include two sons, Gilbert of Milo and Dwight of Lacona; a brother, C.D. of Indianola; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
